The last of the new street trees for Wilton Street is now in!

4 new trees have now been planted at the west end of Wilton Street and one over the junction with Molesworth Road, at the bottom of Valletort Road. We are delighted to be able to replace some of the avenue trees which have been reducing in numbers.

This planting was done as a result of a request from a local resident and we have had lots of positive feedback since!

In the summer we hope to install watering bags on the trees so if you live in the area maybe you could help us keep them topped up.

This project was one of two pilot projects we have run with the help of Plymouth and South Devon Community Forest. Read about the other one here.

Unfortunately we weren't able to plant 3 of the 8 planned trees because once the work had started we discovered that an electrical cable had been laid along the kerb when a new street light was installed. This cable had not come up on our service plans checks. It is issues like this which can make street tree planting so challenging.
