Plymouth Tree People runs the city’s Tree Warden network. They are volunteers who look out for one or more trees in their chosen area. As examples, they might provide hands-on aftercare for recently planted trees with tasks such as watering and adjusting stakes and ties. Or they might gather information about trees at risk or identify new planting opportunities.
Tree Wardens work as individuals although they are supported with training, materials and ongoing advice. Plymouth Tree People also has regular mobile group sessions between September and April, for job which require many hands, which is a great opportunity to meet other Tree Wardens and for those willing to learn and gain experience.
It is a responsible role with no special authority attached. New Tree Wardens have to follow an induction process and know what is and is not permitted. If this sounds of interest, please read our volunteer page and send an email to office@plymouthtrees.org with a little information about yourself and what you would like to do.
