Street trees planted on Durnford Street!

Plymouth Tree People are so excited to have been able to replace 6 street trees on Durnford Street!

We spoke to the residents who were really positive about replacing the trees which have been gone for a while. We chose Tamarisk, which is a bit unusual for a street tree but this tough little tree loves being on the coast and comes out in a pretty flush on pink flowers in the spring. It's also not too dense, so won't block light or views from the windows.

This project is part of the amazing DEFRA funded Plymouth and South Devon Community Forest and PTP employed the help of Glendale to carry out the work which involved drilling new holes in the cement underground containers the previous trees were planted in.

The funding also covers watering for 3 years and the trees will be looked after by our incredible volunteer Tree Wardens until they are established.
