Join us for another evening talk
Join Plymouth Tree People (PTP) for another of our fascinating evening talks! Entry is free but please consider a donation if you can afford it.
On February 3rd we will be joined by Shelley Castle and Anne-Marie Culhane, members of the group Walking Forest, based in Devon and London. They will be giving a talk on the incredible story of the Suffragette Arboretum, which was planted in Batheaston, in Somerset, between April 1909 and July 1911, to commemorate individual suffragettes and suffragists.
"When each of these women broke the ground with spades and heeled in the roots of each tree, they did so not knowing whether they would see the trees reach maturity or whether their actions would succeed."
We will also hear about the contemporary activism of Walking Forest and their plans to plant an 'Intentional Woodland' by 2028 - making space for remembrance and celebration of women who stand up for and protect the natural world.
This Intentional Woodland will be a lasting, living artwork that offers space for hope, encouragement, beauty and resilience for present and future generations.
Our evenings are held at Cafe Momus on Manor Street and start at 6 pm for 6.30pm. The bar will be open throughout and we hope you can join us at this relaxed venue for a drink or some food after the talk.
Please follow Plymouth Tree People on Eventbrite for notifications of future events.
