Last week we were joined by The Lord Mayor, Mark Shayer, at the planting of a new tree to replace the historic Guildhall Sycamore which was sadly blown over in a storm last year.

Read about this historic tree here.

Our Chair, Penny Tarrant, said on the occasion, "The tree we are planting today is indeed a sycamore, the same as its predecessor. I would like to echo what you said about partnership working. The Street Services planting team have been busy all winter and it’s good to have them with us today.

It will take a while to get the new tree going but with regular care from Plymouth Tree People volunteers, we very much hope it will live to the same good age as its predecessor.

It’s good that this event coincides with the Guildhall’s refurbishment and, together, they seem to mark the beginning of a new chapter in the city’s history."
