The volunteer Tree Wardens make a difference

What a terrific volunteer Tree Warden session we had on Friday!

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, especially, new Tree Warden Jean.

We cleared weeds and mulched the trees we planted earlier this year on Devonport Hill. After a quick cuppa we popped down the hill to Stonehouse Creek where a number of Rowan's and Cockspur thorns were planted by PCC in 2013.

These trees were looking a bit sorry for themselves with wonky stakes, which were rubbing the bark, some had lots of side shoots and a few had not properly rooted so were still wobbly. One had recently been snapped off entirely. Many hands made light work and before long, most of the trees were sorted out and the the whole area was looking much better and a bit more loved. Such a productive morning!

Big thanks to Plymouth and South Devon Community Forest for funding the Devonport Hill project earlier this year and delivering the mulch for us last week, and Andy at Shekinah who took the old stakes to be repurposed!
