Well done!
Plymouth Tree People were invited by Plymouth Community Homes (PCH) to plant trees on the land adjacent to the Devonport Hill flats.
We carried out a consultation among the residents of the flats which demonstrated that the majority of residents were supportive of new trees being planted.
This project was made possible through the support and funding of the Plymouth and South Devon Community Forest. Through the funding, PTP were also able to secure money to install a picnic bench and PCH supplied a number of dogwood plants to surround the new trees. We decided on multi-stem Himalayan Birch Jacquemontii due to their tolerance to shade and to stand out against the dark foliage behind.
A small group of volunteer Tree Wardens from PTP were joined by Ryan from PCH to plant the trees and dogwood on March 5th and despite the ground being really hard, they got them all in and the result looks great!
